Little Women; Opera in Two Acts HL50483808 Mark Adamo Vocal Schirmer

Commissioned by the Houston Grand Opera for its Opera Studio, Mark Adamo's Little Women premiered on March 13, 1998. The opera's libretto (also written by Adamo and available for sale, HL50484155) adapts Louisa May Alcott's classic novel about four sisters who come of age just after the American Civil War. Exploring three central themes of the book, Adamo's opera focuses upon Jo March's resistance to the passage of time. Powerfully theatrical and musically sophisticated, Little Women notably contains a wealth of memorable melodies and tuneful arias. A compact disc recording of Houston Grand Opera's production is available on Ondine ODE 988-2D as well; the production was recently seen nationwide in a high-definition television broadcast produced by PBS.
Returning waves (Powracajace fale) symphonic poem Mieczysław Karłowicz orchestre PWM pwm88651
92,70 € 92,70 € 92.7 EUR
''The form of ''Returning Waves'', in accordance with its poetic design, is created after the fashion of a many-stranded 'stream of consciousness''. The fluent succession of contrasting musical pictures permeated by the primary process of development and rising tension. The first subject, which is particularly prominent, recurs in various forms in the course of the composition, often being reduced to its introductory motif. The successive subjects and their evolutionary groupings are integrated into certain primary musical wholes. [Leszek Polony]

"Contra Mortem et Tempus" contient des passages de Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, Edgard Varèse et Charles Ives.(Wikipedia)
Contra mortem et tempus (1965), for example, famously contains quotations from 20th-century composers Pierre Boulez, Edgard Varèse, and Charles Ives. It takes the form of motivic fragments as well as diced and spliced melodic or rhythmic bits whose transformation and reassembling constitute—together with the glue of Rochberg’s own musical ideas and developmental devices—an original composition.
